American Text and Music Paintings
When I first came to New York, I made about thirty 40in x 60in paintings while listening to CDs on a loop given to me by random artists I met there. I painted the words I heard. These large watercolors were first exhibited at A.I.R. Gallery in Chelsea on my 18 month Fellowship awarded by critics from NYUTisch, Art in America, and The Brooklyn Rail. Included are two examples of the press, in NYU Humanus, and Saatchi. There was also press in The New York Times, New York Daily News, the Brooklyn Eagle, the Toronto Star, the Globe and Mail, and the Toronto Sun.
Many projects in many exhibition spaces with New York musicians followed. Examples of these will be uploaded here soon as they are catalogued.
