Care Instructions
What is the best way to care for my paintings?

Art is a special purchase, and with the proper care will retain its beauty for centuries! All framing should be completely acid free, using the acid free materials and glazing your framer knows will preserve the lively color of the painting. The artist favors a ‘shadow box’ framing wherein the glazing never touches the paper, to eliminate the possibility of condensation or marking of the paper over time. Float framing also shows off the pretty decal edge natural to the Arches paper. North light is best, but stronger light for parts of the day is lovely in bringing forward the colors and allowing the light to shine from behind the transparent pigment and light up the surface like a stained glass window of color. The artist favors slightly ecru ie ‘buff’ acid free matts, Japanese acid free tape in small amounts to allow the ‘paperness’ of the painting to float freely as possible (never glue down a painting!), in this way lightly affixed to an acid free matt board that is at least 1.5 – 2.5 in bigger on all sides equally. The float frame itself may have clear glass or uv protection in sunnier situations, and the artist prefers gold painted wood, but this depends on the taste of the purchaser and the given situation of the other objects in the room. Enjoy seeing your painting in the changing light all day and in the changing of the seasons. Art is refreshing and ever beautiful!

What is the payment, delivery, and insurance procedure?

Payment of the painting price is by direct deposit on the Ludwig Pictures website, with applicable taxes calculated at checkout. Original art is unframed and well packaged. Complimentary free local pickup is available depending on where the client is asking to receive the painting. If the work is to be sent, delivery and insurance options will be presented to the client before the work is shipped, for those third parties applicable additional fees.

Posters arrive with free delivery in one of your three frame choices.  They are digitally printed from the original paintings and therefore will have individual small variances as part of the process. It’s important that you know how to take care of everything in the best way possible! We use high-quality inks that won’t fade for a long time if taken care of properly. To ensure that your posters’ brilliant luster lasts for a long time, don’t keep them in direct sunlight or outdoors. They can be gently dusted with a soft dry cloth or a feather duster.

How are your paintings made?

The artist makes her paintings spontaneously in front of every subject. There is no plan. She pays attention and paints looking for the light in front of her. She uses only the primary colors to mix every hue and light value, allowing the brightness of the paper to shine through. She signs and dates the back of the painting, but if possible she will sign the white decal edge of the front of the painting on request.
